Traveling with your horse
Making horse camping fun
Hookups, Coffee, Breakfast and More
Traveling with a horse can be hard. Our goal is to make it stress-free, fun and relaxing for human and equine guests. For that reason, when you arrive, your stall will have buckets in it. You won't have to hang your own. Shavings in stalls are provided..
If you are staying elsewhere, we can do your morning feed, if you need that. If you are running low on hay, we can purchase coastal bermuda locally, if time permits.
There's a fire ring and a gazebo which you're free to use. There is a lot to do in the area— several restaurants, wineries, shops, and dance halls.
Coffee & Breakfast
Relax and help yourself to morning coffee in the tackroom/lounge. If you want to eat breakfast here, let us know when you make your reservation. Cheerios, milk, fruit, bagels, (or gluten-free bread on request) and cream cheese are available. Brew a quick pot of coffee, and heat up a bagel in the microwave or toaster oven before you get on the road and on with your day. Hot chocolate, tea, coffee, latte mix, and bottled water are in tackroom pie safe. Creamer, bottled water, and drinks are in the refrigerator. Help yourself.
Pull-through hookups
When we asked horse people what they looked for in overnight stabling, pull-through hookups were at the top of the list. We listened, and all the hookups are pull-throughs. You can park however you like. Two are in the pasture, one is beside the barn. All are on pasture.
20, 30 or 50 amps & water
The electric hookups take standard RV connectors. There is also another 20 amp outlet on the electrical pole, which can be used. Ask if you need an adapter cable. Dry camping (without electricity) is also permitted if traveling with a horse. There is water available at the sites, as well as in the back pasture near the roundpen.
Trailer Access
The property has wide gates (20 and 12 feet), and the driveway has recently been widened to make it easily accessible for trucks and trailers. We recommend trailers under 40' long, although we have had two that were 48' long. You will drive through the trees, as shown, and into the pasture to park your rig. Parking is on pasture. If you're arriving at night, you'll be able to see the lights from a cellular tower directly across the street from the driveway. Please call us when you're coming in so that we can guide you through to your site. Access from the west is slightly better for a large rig, as there is about three feet more turning room. See directions for more information.
Take a walk
Prochnow is a beautiful, quiet country road, great for walking or biking. We have no idea who decorated this tree about a quarter mile west of our property, or set up the good-luck fence covered in locks.
Ride your horse
If you want to ride, you're welcome to tack up, and head to the arena. There are poles, cones, and jumps. The arena is lit for night riding, as well. The roundpen has a 3" base of ground granite, which makes an excellent footing for general schooling, dressage, and jumping. We host occasional clinics, such as the one shown above.
